A quick update, Christmas Cards 2014 and Hastings Illustration Festival

Hello!

Good gosh it has been a long time since i've posted .... again! I'm much better at updating my illustration page on facebook which can be found here if you're interested in taking a spy.

I had to move house again this summer, as the landlady sold my flat in Oxford which was rather sad as I loved living there. So, for the time being, I find myself living in Dorset, not quite close enough to the sea but I am surrounded by some interesting places and I've been enjoying taking some long, windy walks up on the chalk downs and around Maiden Castle.

I'm really excited to be taking part in HIFEST - Hastings first Illustration Festival, on the 6th of December in, believe it or not, Hastings! The info can be found on the website : www.hifest.co.uk
I'll be there with a stall selling some of my prints and Christmas cards as well as a few other bits and pieces alongside lots of talented and amazing Illustrators. I'm a little overwhelmed by the company I'll be in, it's a fabulous list of 'guests'.

I shall also be putting some new Christmas card designs up in my Etsy shop Sirjessica in the next few days once I've sorted through the delivery I received yesterday and have taken some proper photos. In the meantime here is a not so great one of the order when it arrived:

Hopefully it won't be another 6 months or so before I post to here again, but for now ....  Toodles x

A post about tigers ...

So after a very busy few weeks I found myself with an unexpected weekend free of work or other demands on my attention, and been as the weather is pretty miserable what better time I thought, than to catch up on one of the fun topics set by @Daily__Doodle over on twitter ... So having drawn a lot of tigers recently, more on that in a mo, I was definitely keen to have a go at The Tiger who Came to Tea. It's always been one of my absolute favourite books anyway ... Here's my take ...

He's enjoying rather a High Tea i think, definitely been drawing some inspiration from some of the fancier tea rooms around Oxford.

So tigers, that leads me to an exciting bit of news - I was super pleased to be asked by Springboard Stories to illustrate the book for their upcoming issue on 'Traders' which just so happened to combine lots of things that i absolutely love (tigers, knitting, India) so it was a pleasure to accept.

Here's the cover which was posted over on their facebook page last week and I'm really looking forward to being able to share more!

Happy Pancake Day!

Pancake day is quite possibly one of my favourite traditions! This year i decided to get a bit creative with the batter, so along with a giraffe, an elephant that looked a bit like a jumper, a T-rex whose legs fell off ( & promptly got scoffed) and several things best described as slugs I made this here octopus ...

Happy pancake day folks! I hope you have as much fun making your pancakes as i did!

A lovely commission

Hello,

A couple of months ago i was asked to do a double portrait of some friends of a friend for their wedding invitations. They had discovered my work through receiving one of my christmas card designs  and it was a lovely little project to be asked to do. I was reminded of this yesterday as they've now all been sent out and i received a message letting me know they'd received lots of positive comments which bought a smile to my face!
